VIDEO: Former Toon Defender Scores Belter This Weekend

Former Newcastle United defender, James Tavernier, scored an absolute belter this weekend for Rangers in their Petrofac Training Cup final victory over Peterhead.  Starting at full-back, Tavernier, who left Newcastle at the end of last season after a number of seasons out on loan, scored Rangers’ spectacular second goal in a 4-0 victory over their opponents.  With the Scottish heavyweights already holding a 1-0 advantage following an unfortunate Ally Gilchrist own goal, Tavernier put them in a commanding position shortly before the break with a soaring half-volley from 25 yards which crashed into the top corner of the net.
